Mediaclip Upload Environment now supports HEIC, HEIF and many more standard image extensions such as JPG, JPEG, PNG, BMP.
Uploading seems simple but even today, customers may run into issues, especially with some, not yet standard, versatile image extensions, like the HEIC and HEIF format
The good news, Mediaclip uploader now support HEIC and HEIF file format and many more. Before consumers would need to reformat these to upload them in our ecosystem. As of May 2021, if your clients are uploading images with these image extension, they will be uploaded and recognized automatically.
Mediaclip, supports the following standard file types: JPG, JPEG, PNG, BMP, HEIC, HEIF.

You may ask “could there be exceptions”?
Yes! Some clients can encounter upload restrictions and exceptions. The most common exception encountered is “did your client give the upload service the permission to access the selected device storage?” Have your client check this issue first!
What to do with difficult HEIC Files or some upload resistant image file extensions?
If your customer complains about having still issues uploading their HEIC photos or another file format extension, you may want to guide them to convert these images to another format with specialised tools. The most popular photo file extension is still the JPEG standard format.

On IOS
There is an automatic transfer feature that converts HEIC files to JPEG.
It’s simple, go to “Settings” then access “Photos” on your device, scroll down, and initiate the “Transfer to Mac or PC”. HEIC files are opened on your PC because the “Keep Originals” setting is activated. Set the setting to “Automatic”. Transfers will automatically be converted photos to JPG.
Did you know that emailing a HEIC photo from your iOS device to yourself will convert them to JPEG on a Windows computer? This is a simple way of turning a HEIC photo to JPEG.
